Promoting the right of protection of women through the application of the EC Directive 2011/99/EU and the European Protection Order (ARTEMIS)

In this new international project, we focus on the European protection order; we analyze its use and good and poor practices and we aim to increase the awareness of lawyers and helping organizations about the possibilities of its use. The main goal of the project is to contribute to a better and coherent application of the EC Directive 2011/99/EU and to promote the use of the European Protection Order.

The European Protection Order was introduced by EC Directive 2011/99/EU to allow judicial protection orders issued in criminal proceedings in one Member State to be applied in another Member State. The directive introduces measures aimed at creating a specific common area of security and justice without internal borders, strengthening the protection measures already obtained by victims of crime. The institution of the European Protection Order, in fact, is based on judicial cooperation in criminal matters as well as on the mutual recognition of judgments and judicial decisions, as sanctioned by the Treaty on the functioning of the European Union.

The main activities of the project will be data collection on use of the European protection order, international and national seminars for legal professionals and professionals from NGOs or the dissemination of information brochures to legal professionals, NGOs and wide public.

In this project, we cooperate with five other non-governmental organizations: Ebit s.r.l. (Italy), PROGEU – Progress in European Union (Italy), Autonomous Women's House Zagreb (Croatia), Mesogeiako Institouto Meleton Koinonikou Fylou Idryma (Cyprus), Syndesmos Melon Gynaikeion Somateion Irakleioy Kai Nomoy Irakleioy (Greece).

More information on the project could be found on its official website or Facebook page.

Project ARTEMIS (878592 — ARTEMIS — JUST-AG-2019/JUST-JACC-AG-2019) is co-funded by the Justice Programme of the European Union and is being implemented from 02/02/2020 to 02/02/2022.
